omelette fried rice

So it happened when my parents are out of town and we didn't have any maid at home, me and my brother had to stay at home and took care of the house. I was in charged in making breakfast, so i decided to make the most common breakfast for Indonesian which is fried rice.

This time i wanna share with you how to make an omelette fried rice. I ate this kind of fried rice in a Japanese restaurant. In Japanese, this kind of food is called omurice. I love Japanese food and that is kind of my specialty in cooking. So I'm gonna show you how to make my version of omurice. The ingredients i used are the ones that can be found in (hopefully) everywhere. If you don't have the ingredients, you can always substitute it with other.

 2 shallots
2 Garlics
spring onions
carrot
well, you may whether or not use carrot. you can substitute carrots with green peas or even sausages that u have cut into dices.

these sauces you may not able to find it anywhere in your house. you can go to Asian store and look for these bottles. you may whether use them or not. But some is very crucial like the Sweet soy sauce (kecap) and white pepper. If you dont have sweet soy sauce, you can use ordinary soy sauce instead and add more sugar.

Cook everything inside the frying pan except rice and eggs. I don't really measure how much should i put in, i just eye it or feel it by heart. After the carrots get soft and the chicken meat is cooked, you may add the rice.

when you add the rice inside the frying pan, you can start stirring. make sure that everything get mixed with the rice. keep on mixing with a low heat stove until the rice become all brown.

After you're done with the rice, get a non sticky pan and make an omelette. This is definitely the fun part. after the omelette is half cook, put the rice on top on the omelette and form a taco shape.
And then flip it to your plate. There you have omelette fried rice, my version of omuric. i hope you give a try.

Closet Investment: Little Black Dress

So, it was started when i moved out from Manila to Jakarta. I had one big luggage full of clothes. When i say full i mean to the point when i needed to sit on top of my luggage in order to close it properly. That's one luggage i brought and i still have another full luggage i left there. When i arrived home in Jakarta, I opened my clothes closet and i had to say, i was speechless. My closet was also full already. That made me come up with an idea. I have to donate some of my clothes or open for a garage sale.

In this post, I want to share with you how to edit your closet. I think most of girls, when they are getting ready in the morning, They always have nothing to wear while they have closet full of clothes. It happens to all girls including me. That's why i want to start editing my closet by picking which clothes stay and go away. When you open your closet, ask your self, how many item in there do you actually wear? How many of those items make you feel good about your self?
I'm pretty sure you have clothes that you always wear and clothes that you never even look or touch. I have clothes that i really like because of so many reasons except wearing it. Sometimes, some clothes look better hanging in the store than in my body. Now, those clothes are just hanging in my closet because i already bought it. There are also clothes that don't fit me anymore because I'm, well, growing up. Those clothes is better off be donated than stay old in my closet.

Well, aside from throwing some clothes away, i also realized that i have to edit my style. I realized that i have so many clothes that still in good condition and that should stop me from going shopping. All i have to do is to mix and match what is already there. Be creative and confident is the key. I hope after reading this, you all won't say "i have nothing to wear" anymore.

This time, you will need the so-called Little black dress (lbd) in your closet. It is a very good investment for you and your entire fashion life. If you have to throw everything in your closet and keep one, you got to pick lbd. You all know that lbd was invented by coco chanel. In Its Simplicity, it make you effortlessly stylish. In its Sophistication, it make you look endlessly elegant. Lbd also gives the slimming effect. For your information, black is not color. Black is the absence of color or light. Black absorbs all aspect of lights. it doesn't reflect lights at all and that's why it conceals.

Now, i'm going to show you how to wear lbd for different occasions. I'm also going to show you how to mix and match with other items in your closet. In the picture below, i have a fitted lbd. I'm not really sure the material of this dress, but i'm sure it will fit perfectly in everybody because it's kind of stretchable. It's is very comfortable. Not so much revealing, but it can still make you sexy because it shapes your body perfectly.

If you have nothing to wear to work or school, you can grab your ldb and layer it with a long cardigan. put a belt to define more your body curve and don't forget to accessorize by adding a necklace.

Imagine your lbd as a blank canvas. You may wear your printed skirt over it and a statement necklace.

You can also wear it in a casual way in summer days. Wear a shorts over it and layer it again with an a blouse or cardigan. Don't forget to accessorize with your boots and shades.

Aside from the slimming effect, lbd can make your body look taller. All you have to do is by pairing it with black thighs and boots. try to wear accessories like earrings and headbands so that all the attention will be in your face and that makes you slimmer and taller on the bottom.
You can always layer it with over-sized top. But to keep the curve of your body, try to put a belt on.
Lbd is also best to stand by it self. But remember to always accessorize. Black dress is elegant and formal, but remember, it is a blank canvas. You don't want it to look empty. Try to put a statement in your blank canvas. Bag, clutch, shoes and belt are also accessories you can play with it too.

For those who have a fluffy lbd made from tulle, you may want to add some items on the top part because you can't do much with the tulle skirt. If your lbd is heavy on the top, try add items on the bottom like the pictures above. Now, i'm going to show you is the vice-versa.

If you don't feel comfortable showing too much skin, you can cover it using a scarf. Just warp it around your shoulder and you're good to go. You can use the scarf as an accessories by draping it around your neck and make a bow or simple knot.

You can always wear a top or cardigan over your lbd and i think this is very cute for going on a date, because you will still look sophisticated and yet you can still make a statement for yourself.
Don't forget to accessorize! If you want to make your legs look longer, you can also wear a beige high heels. it will give an illusions of taller legs.
For more of a professional look, you can wear a blazer in top of it and accessorize using scarf, earrings or necklace.
Don't be afraid to experiment with your blank canvas. Don't follow trends, because trend will come and go easily.  Just like what Coco Chanel said, "Fashion fades, style is eternal." Choose a style that define you as you're self, not anybody else. Wear clothes that makes you feel good about yourself. When you feel good that means you're wearing confident in you and that what makes you look good.

In the picture below, i was wearing my little black dress with the traditional costume from Celebes Island in Indonesia (Sulawesi). I paired it with pairs of ankle boots too. So dare your self to be creative.

Transform the basic to night out party make up

It's almost Friday! Friday is the time when you're excited for the weekend already. I know, you can't wait to hang out with your friends or boyfriend after class or work. So now i'm going to show you how to do a simple easy daily make up and transform it into party make up.  I have three looks for now: Basic daily make up, dinner date make up and night out party make up. I have listed the things that you need to bring in your make up pouch. Do you have a make up pouch? if you don't, then first step is to get one. If you don't have time to buy it, just use your old pencil case, but make sure it's clean. These are the things that you will need for this look.

First thing that you need is eyeshadow. If you're planning to buy one, it is better to get the neutral color. Neutral color basically brown with different shades. The one in the picture has four different colors if you notice. (1) beige (2) light brown (3) brown (4) dark brown. Most of the time, if you buy a small box of an eyeshadow, you will get a sponge tip. You may use that instead of a brush. But if you do have eyeshadow brush, you may go and use it as well. so let's get started with the first look.

The first look is the daily eyes make up. This is very easy, simple and fast. This is actually my daily routine make up. So the first step, after you have apply your moisturizer and sun block, You may apply your foundation and concealer. If i don't go anywhere after class, i don't usually put foundation on for my everyday make up. A bit of concealer will do for a few coverage. But then, if i had an appointment right after class, i will put some foundation on and retouch.

On the eyes, you have to prep your eyes using eyeshadow base. You may use cream eyeshadow with beige color or neutral color. if you don't have any, you may use your white eyeliner and just fill all over your eyelids and blend it with your hand so that it will melt eventually. The purpose of Eyeshadow base is to make your eyeshadow stay all day long in your eyes.

After you apply the eyeshadow base, Get your (1) beige or the lightest color eyeshadow and apply it all over the eye lids area with your brush or a sponge tip.  After you have applied it all over your lids area, get a little bit of (2) light brown eyeshadow and put at the end of your eyes and lightly bring it to the center. Don't get too much product on your sponge tip or brush because it's easier to add little by little until you get the perfect shade instead of trying to remove it because you've applied too much. Remember, you're going to class or work, of course you don't want to look as if someone just hit your eyes. So apply it lightly. It's suppose to make your eyes appear 3D and give shadow effects.

Get your black eyeliner and line your eyes as close as possible to the lash line. Not too thick, just right. Get your sponge tip again and try to smudge the eyeliner, so it will look as natural as possible. Curl your lashes using the lashes curler and apply your favorite mascara right after. Don't forget to put some mascara to your bottom lashes.  Get your white eyeliner again and put it in the corner of your eyes to brighten up your eyes.

You may want to shape your eye brows, put some blush on and lip balm to your lips. Then you're good to go. I think, it will take less than 20 minutes. Simple, fast and easy, right?

So, after you have dismissed from class or work, you only have 10 minutes to change because you're going out on dinner with a special someone or just hang out with your friends. Let's get started with the second look.

This is why i told you to bring your make up pouch. Get your sponge tip and a brown eyeshadow (3). Apply it at the end of your eyes and smudge it lightly to the center of your eyes. Now, you're allowed to make it darker but only at the end of your eyes to the center, as seen on the picture above. don't forget to blend! and again, you have to build the color little by little. Apply it also on the lower part of your eyes, only until the center of your eyes. Then, apply more white eye liner to the center of your eyes. Fix your lashes by curling it again and put a bit of mascara both on upper and lower lashes.

Don't forget to blot the access oil on your face with the compact powder. After you have worked all day, you need to look fresh. Get your blush on and add it to your cheeks. Add a bit of color to your lips using your favorite lipstick. That's all! You are now ready to go out and have dinner with you're special someone, even though you have wasted your day at school or office, you will still look bright and fresh.

The night is not yet over. You will still head up to a party with you're friends and of course there will be a lot of picture taking. But, you only have less than 10 minutes to prepare. So let's get started on the third look!

Get your compact powder again remove the oily off your face. Get your sponge tip again and the darkest color of your eyeshadow (4). Apply it at the end of your eyes and just make it darker, but you have to leave the center to the front of your eyes light. Slightly, wing the dark eyeshadow to the side, as seen on the picture. apply it also on the lower part of your eyes, until the center part only. You don't wanna blcok the whole eyes because your eyes will appear smaller just like you apply your eyeliner. Don't forget your mascara.
It's gonna be a lot of picture takings, so apply more brush and lipstick because flash photography can remove 70% make up from our face in the picture as the flash reflecting.

So that's all for now. I hope you enjoy reading it. Don't hesitate to leave some comments below and let me know what you think. I hope you all give a try.

Special thanks for my pretty friend Carine for modeling.
If you're my friend, you know you're next to model if your phone rings and it shows my name. :D

17 different ways to wear Batik Scarf

Hi all ! I'm here to show you different ways to wear batik scarf. I'm sure you all have at least one scarf in your closet. If you don't, you can always grab your momma's silk scarf. Just like necklace, Scarf can be a statement to you outfit. Wear a simple basic top and layer it with your colorful scarf, or in this case, Batik scarf and you're good to go. It's gonna be fast and easy, As easy as 1 2 3 4. if i can do it, then I'm sure you all can do it too.
So, Let's get started!

First scarf, Drape the scarf around your neck. cross it over  and bring the backward. then make a knot at the back. Fix the front and you're good to go.

Second scarf, Grab you're scarf and fold it into half like so. Drape it on your neck. Then grab the end and put it through the hole.

The third one is following the previous instruction. but this one, you have to bring it close to your neck.

Then the fourth scarf is just like the second scarf. And then make another loop and grab the other end. Bring it through the hole. Loosen up the knot and voila! you can bring the knot up or down depending on you and what you're wearing.

The fifth way is triple loop. Fold the scarf into two. twist it a few times and drape it to your neck. You make a loop like so. bring over through the hole. make second loop on the other side, bring it over again. Lastly, make another loop and bring it over to the other side.

The sixth scarf is the easiest. Drape the scarf around your neck and make a big knot at the end until it forms a bundle. You may also pull the scarf all the way out.

The seventh scarf is from the previous one. All you have to do is to bring the big knot to the side.

The eight scarf, make a knot on your scarf. Put the scarf around your neck, circle it once around your neck. So you will have two loops like so. Then bring the one over to the middle.

Scarf is also best for head band. Again, fold it into two and put under your hair. put the end through the hole and separate the ends to the left and right. And then tie it at the back. Then you have your headband scarf.

These are different ways to make head band out of your scarf. The first picture, as you can see, you just have to put it around your head and make a knot on the side. the second picture, you tie your hair as well with the scarf. The third picture on the left, all you have to do is to braid the scarf with your hair. Last, to make this kind of head band, you have to fold the scarf into two. then twist it many times, the bring the other end to the loop and put it in your head.

Scarf is also perfect as bolero. All you have to do is to bring the end to your waist or neck and make a knot just like in the picture. Don't be afraid to experiments with you're scarf. You may add a brooch to help your scarf secure in place.

A few tips on wearing scarf. you have to know the length of your neck. It's not necessarily how long in inches or cm. But some people have short neck, long neck, wide neck and thin neck. Pick the style of scarf that compliments your neck. if you have long neck, you can wear number three or four scarf above. I personally have short neck and if i wear it too much covering my neck, it would seem like i have no neck at all and it's not good. i would wear something like number six and seven above.

So, again, experiment with your scarf. Don't be afraid to try and ask opinion from people (you trust).
i hope you give a try. No matter if you live in a tropical country like me, desert or snowy mountain, scarf is one of the best fashion accessories.

My new old-camera

So, it started when I was cleaning up my dad's cabinet and i found these two old film camera we used before digital camera was existed. This is so cool. I'm as happy as a little kid who found her old toys.
i checked on them and they are still working. The only thing i need is a pair of AA batteries. I can't wait to try them. the only thing matters is i have to find a place to get my film developed. Unlike the digital camera, all we need is a card reader and that's all. Well, i think that's the fun part of it. Anything that turns out in the picture is a surprise. It could be something unexpected. So, i'm very excited to use this, again.

Balinese meet French tip nails

I'm trying to show you how to make a french tip nails with Balinese inspired. I remembered a few years ago when i went to Bali island, Indonesia, i got my nail art done by the locals in the beach. I only got to pay 5 bucks or 50k Rupiah. The lady who did my nails used as simple as a tooth pick to make flowers to my nails. it was very simple, fast and yet presentable. I loved it. So now, I'm gonna do it in my style.

Start off by cutting your nails to the desired shape. For this french nail, I prefer square shape for my nails. To make your nails square, all you have to do is cut on the center of you nails to achieve straight line. Use nail files to make it even more straight on the center.
Once you get your desire shape, get a little bit of hand lotion and give a massage to your hands. rub a little bit to your nails as well so that the moisturizers will be absorbed by your nails. Leave it a few moment while you're preparing for the nail polish

For french tips, all you need is a white nail polish and transparent for base and top coating.

I put a thin base coat to protect my nails from colored nail polish because sometimes the color stays in my nails even i already removed it with acetone. After you have put on base coat, wait for five minutes for it to dry. Then prepare the white nail polish. Make sure that it is not too thick, because sometimes if you leave it open for a long time it would make top surface dry and when you shake it, it becomes thicker. If that happened to your nail polish, all you have to do is to add a little bit of acetone to the bottle, shake it a bit and you will have a normal consistency nail polish. Not too much of acetone because you don't want it to be too watery. Don't forget to close it tightly.
To make a prefect french tips, you need a steady hand, patient and practice. when you lift the brush from the container, make sure you get the right amount, not too much and not to little. if you think it's too much you can swipe the side of your brush on the top of container bottle.
If you're having a hard time making the line straight, my tips is to
get a masking tape and tape it to your nails. After you put the french tip on, remove carefully the tape or else it would stick to your nail polish.

After i'm done with all the four finger tips, i did flowers on the tip of my thumbs. You will need a dotting tool, but if you don't have it you can use a tooth pick. Make four white dots for each flowers. Then make another dot in the middle with different color. I'd prefer yellow because it would catch more attention. Unfortunately, I'm running out of yellow, so i used bronze instead. You can use other color such as pink, red, blue or your favorite color. Then I added thin white line to the tip of my thumb. Lastly, I put another layer of coat to prevent my french tip from chipping off.
This is how it looks like. i hope you like it and give a try.
